WEEK 7 RE-CAP

Believe it or not, we are now halfway through the regular season. Here is how the action went down in the ICLAFF this week…

There was a huge sigh of relief in the armpit of Eastern Ontario this weekend as J-OSHAWA ALLEN gets it done on the road against ERIC’S E-ALLS. D’onta Foreman had struggled all season, but exploded for 33 points this week - a great pickup by Mike… and even tho the Bills lost, their QB still put up 24 fantasy points. Eric must not have noticed that Montgomery’s status went from “Questionable” to “Out” prior to kickoff. His spot was wasted while Mike Evan’s 20 would have really helped out in his Flex spot. And how about your backup kicker scoring 22 on your bench? Ouch, that one hurts too. The E-Alls lose their second in a row, 110-90. J-Oshawa’s losing streak is over! Mike may have saved his season with the upset win, and now he takes a little momentum into his match next week in The Shwa against his oldest rival.

The red hot OTTAWA ROSS RIDERS were looking to take care of business down in Sin City against the LAS VEGAS SUN WORSHIPERS. Kamara had a big game for Rich Thursday night scoring 29 and getting the Worshipers out to a lead - he’s been nothing short of amazing since coming back. He then got great games on Sunday from Baker Mayfield (16) and the Giants defence (15), which were both nice little surprises. It was a fairly decent effort overall by the Worshipers, scoring past the century mark for the second consecutive week. Unfortunately “decent” is not good enough to keep pace with The Riders these days. Not when AJ Brown is putting up 30, to go along with his fellow receiver Puka Nacua’s 23. Ottawa takes the match, a 117-102 final. It’s just another impressive performance by Ross - his streak continues, that’s now 5 in a row!

It was quite the quarterback showdown in the battle between the DARTH RAIDERS and the STAND ALONE AMERICAN. Both QB’s scored exactly 33.9 points - Mahommes for Howie, and LeMar for Rick. Jerome Ford added 17 for the D-Raiders, but the rest of their lineup was held to under 8 points in another lacklustre performance. They still had a very slight hope of winning on Monday night, but Rick took care of that despite not having Deebo Samuel. He was able to squeeze 43 points out of San Fran’s McCaffrey (23), and the Viking’s Hockenson (20) to walk away with the 129-94 victory. The Lone American gets back into the win column and moves up in the standings, into the final playoff position… the lowly D-Raiders are now 1-6, and we can probably expect some big changes coming on the Death Star.

In the match between the CRYSTAL LAKE SLASHERS and HOOKED ON A THIELEN, both teams had a wide receiver active on Thursday who each scored 13 points deadlocking the match going into the weekend. On Sunday both team’s TE’s had a huge impact on National Tight Ends Day - Mark Andrews scored 22 for Don, and Glen picked up 23 from Darren Waller. This stayed fairly close for the rest of the afternoon and the Slashers held a 6 point lead after play on Sunday. It was a really big Monday night for Big Poppa… not only did his Vikings take down the heavily favoured Niners, but in the process Jordan Addison racked up 31 fantasy points helping him blow past the Slashers and pick up his fourth win, 142-110. This is the third time this season Hooked T has scored 140+ points in a match… and what makes this big win even more impressive, is that he did it this week without a few of his key players.

In the Bay, STRAIGHT OUTTA COUGHLIN steamrolled over PURDY GOOD. No one celebrated National Tight Ends Day more than the big man Travis Kelce. His 36 points was the best in fantasy football this week and more than half the points PG’s whole team was able to score. It was a tough weekend for Shawn - a fantasy loss, his Niners lose, and judging by how fast he left my house on Sunday I take it his other bets didn’t go too well either. Just as he predicted in his preview, Matt beats Shawn by 40 points… 44 points to be exact. Shawn drops his third in a row, scoring the fewest points he ever has in the ICLAFF. You have to admit, only putting up 61 points in a rivalry match is purdy pathetic! See you again in Week 13 my friend.

And finally, in the ICLAFF Match of the Week... first place 3RD AND LONG took down MARC’S FUNKY BUNCH at home in Funky Town. Ryan put up a season high 134 points thanks to his usual big gun Tyreek Hill’s 26 points, and a breakout performance by Jahmyr Gibbs scoring 28. Marc’s team actually scored very well - Etienne Jr and Amon’ra St. Brown each had 23, plus he had 3 other players score over 18. 113 points is a great week - especially considering he forget to start a kicker a defence… oh shit!! The Bunch drop to 4-3, while 3&L is now a very impressive 6-1, best in the league!
