WEEK 10 RE-CAP
What an exciting week of football! We had 6 walk off wins in the NFL decided by kicks at the end of the game - that’s the first time that’s ever happened. There were also some big upsets in the ICLAFF as well as a couple matches that came right down to the end of the Monday Nighter. Here’s how it all happened…
Our closest match in Week 10 was between MARC’S FUNKY BUNCH and the OTTAWA ROSS RIDERS who were looking for their 8th straight win. This one was back and forth all weekend. Stevenson started it early for the Riders in Germany scoring 13 points, then Burrow dropped 20 giving them a 52-39 lead after the 1pm games. The Bunch fired back later that afternoon taking the lead thanks to 31 points from WR Amon-Ra St. Brown, and 17 from RB Antonio Gibson. They were separated by just 3 points going into Monday Night Football, each with a Buffalo Bill left to play - RB James Cook for Marc, and WR Game Davis for Ross. The lead was shaved down to just 0.2 after the first quarter, but Marc extended it slightly to 2 by halftime. Then in the third quarter Ross briefly regained the lead by 0.78… only to see it slip away for good late in the 4th quarter after James Cook dribbled his way down the field for a 42 yard run that put this match out of reach. The Funky Bunch pull off the dramatic upset taking down the surging Riders 96-90. Ross’ 7 game winning streak is over after he struggles to put up a season low in points. Marc snaps a 3 game losing streak to remain in the final playoff position.

Another close one took place between HOOKED ON A THIELEN and ERIC’S E-ALLS. Don was seeking his 4th win in a row, while Eric was trying to stop a 4 game slide. New Vikings QB Josh Dobbs was great again for Hooked-T with 25 points, and J’Marr Chase also had 23 getting Don out to a 40 point lead after the 1pm games on Sunday. That was no problem for Eric, Keenan Allen got all that back himself scoring 41 - the highest fantasy score this week. In the Sunday night game Devonte Adams extended Eric’s lead to 116-110, but there was still three players in action Monday… QB Russell Wilson for the E-Alls, and the Purple T’s had WR Stefon Diggs and RB Javonte Williams. Wilson helped get Eric’s lead up to 14 points by the 4th quarter, but Williams kept chipping away on the ground for Don. With 4 min left in the game he scored a touchdown, but Wilson threw it to him instead of handing it off which also gave Eric points. That cut the lead back to 6 points and Don still had a shot when the Bills entered the red zone at the two minute warning… but instead of looking for Diggs in the end zone, Josh Allen kept it himself and scored. The E-Alls hang on to win 135-127. Don’s playoff clinching celebration will have to wait for at least another week.

Would there be a third big upset this week with the LAS VEGAS SUN WORSHIPERS taking on THIRD AND LONG? Coming into this match the Worshipers has won just 3 games, while first place 3&L has already wrapped up a playoff spot and was looking to win its 6th in a row…. this one had all the traditional signs of a Trap Game. Neither team had an issue scoring points. Rich’s squad scored 10 total touchdowns - half of them by Dak who finished 38 points, CeeDee Lamb added 40, and the Cowbitches D had 11. Ryan had 3 players score into the 20’s this week - Gibbs 26, Ekeler 22, and Goff 21. These two teams would combine for an impressive 285 points, but surprisingly it’s Las Vegas who ultimately comes out on top 149-136. A tough loss for Ryan who scored more points than every team in the ICLAFF this week, except the one he was facing. He is now 8-2 with his only two losses coming against teams currently in the FInkle Four. What an upset! The Worshipers put up the most points they ever have and pickup win number 4 matching their total number of wins from last season. Could there be a push for the playoffs in Sin City? They’re now just one game out.

The DARTH RAIDERS playoff hopes were pretty much crushed this week as they fall to a scrappy PURDY GOOD team. They came in losers of their last 5 matches, but PG really showed up this week putting up a season high in points. QB Justin Herbert had 28, Jaylen Warren had 19, and even his kicker contributed with 21. Howie briefly held a slim lead after WR Noah Brown had a 24 point performance for the Houston Texans, and in the same game RB Devon Singletary had 23… but he was left on Howie’s bench along with New England WR Demario Douglas who also had 14. Those bench points certainly would’ve made it more interesting for Howie, but instead his D-Raiders fall again for the 8th time this season 118-96. Fire up the Hype Train again, the losing streak is over in The Bay! Purdy Good wins their first match since Justin Jefferson went down in Week 4, and Shawn woke up this morning with a whole new attitude.

Without some key starters in their lineup, STRAIGHT OUTTA COUGHLIN took on the STAND ALONE AMERICAN who was hungry to get back into the win column after a tough loss last week. QB Brock Purdy stepped up with Tua on bye and scored 24 for Matt, but after the 1pm games it was Rick who led the match 93-60 on the strength of TE TJ Hockenson’s 30 points, and Christian McCaffrey’s 20. It was a different story in the 4pm games when’s Matt’s offence came to life. WR Tyler Lockett put up 24 points and newly acquired David Montgomery ran for 18, as SO-CO blew past the Lone American to take it 128-109. Matt hangs on to the Balashi Bowl and maintains bragging rights over his cross border rival for another year. With the win he is back into a top four position, and another step closer to clinching a playoff spot. Rick loses his third in a row and is swept by the Mitchell family.

Anticipation was high in The Shwa this past weekend where J-OSHAWA ALLEN was going for their fourth straight win against the CRYSTAL LAKE SLASHERS. But then the games started and the Slashers got out to a lead… and pretty much stayed in the lead all day. RB Brian Robinson Jr scored 28 points for Glen, Chris Olave had 21, and CJ Stroud filled in nicely for Jalen Hurts at QB adding 19. J-Oshawa got respectable efforts on the ground from Bijan Robinson with 18, and through the air by Michael Pittman Jr. with 16, but this match was going to come down to the arm of their namesake QB and what he could do on Monday night. It was going to take a miracle, but Mike boosted all day about how it was possible for Josh Allen to outscore his TE Dalton Kincaid by 36 points which was needed to give him the win. In the end Kincaid would actually outscore Allen in primetime, and their comeback fell just a bit short. 38 points short. What a thriller. The Slashers leave town with the win, their second in a row.
