WEEK 5 PREVIEW
Another big trade went down, and it again involves the STAND ALONE AMERICAN. This time Rick ships QB Tua Tagovailoa and WR Amari Cooper off to STRAIGHT OUTTA COUGHLIN, picking up WR Deebo Samuel and RB Breece Hall in return.
And now for the Week 5 Preview. A showdown for first place, and a championship rematch. Here’s what’s ahead in the ICLAFF…

A big match is set to go down between the DARTH RAIDERS and OTTAWA ROSS RIDERS. For the third consecutive week Howie is taking on a nephew, and he’s coming in with a bit of momentum having just saved his season last week by picking up his first win. No one in the ICLAFF has been hotter in the last two weeks than his nephew Ross, he’s won two in a row and scored over 130 points in each week. It’s the Battle of Ottawa, and although it might not be as exciting as having Taylor Swift in the house, maybe Canada’s favourite drama teacher turned prime minister Justin Trudeau will be there for the opening coin toss… that would be something eh?

On Forest Park Drive, Mike returns to where he grew up playing street hockey when HOOKED ON A THIELEN hosts J-OSHAWA ALLEN. After two straight losses at home, it might be best for him to get out on the road away from The Shwa where things are starting to get tense. It’s not quite time to panic, but the J-Oshawa Mafia is growing restless. Their opponent this week is no joke. Don’s Hooked-T is feeling pretty confident after their 145 point performance. Buffalo is in London this week for a game both sides will be watching. Mike is hoping Josh Allen goes off like he did against Miami, but he would prefer if Stefon Diggs was not his main target this time or he could find himself down in this one early. There was talk of Don reaching out with a trade offer trying to acquire Josh Allen ahead of this matchup, but fans in The Shwa can rest assured that their star QB is not going anywhere. I just don’t think J-Oshawa Allen would be the same without Joshua Allen.

It’s a Bundy Bowl rematch in Brooklin with 2-2 STRAIGHT OUTTA COUGHLIN taking on 3-1 3RD AND LONG, and for the second straight week we have a brother vs brother showdown. Both teams are coming into this one still reeling from tough losses to other family members last week - SO-CO a 57 point loss to their father, and 3&L putting up just 65 points against their uncle. Matt now appears to be all-in on the Miami Dolphins offence, picking up Tua in a trade this week to go along with Mostert and Waddle. He’ll be looking for them all to have a big week against… well, his Giants. And with five players out on a bye and so many others banged up, the biggest question facing his brother Ryan this week is wether or not he’ll be able to stitch together a starting lineup.

MARC’S FUNKY BUNCH and the LAS VEGAS SUN WORSHIPERS square off in a rivalry match between two good buddies. Both had huge victories is marquee matches last week… Rich conquering the Battle of ‘Merica, and Marc stealing the Allward Brother Bowl. Star receiver Amon-ra St. Brown is questionable for Marc who will once again have to wake up early on Sunday morning to watch his two key London Jaguar players suit up against the Bills this week. He’s hopeful they can get them out to a big lead, because this one likely won’t be decided until the end of the Sunday night game. Rich has 3 players in action for the Cowbitches as they go up against a very good Niners team in prime time.

The STAND ALONE AMERICAN stays on the road but travels from the desert to the deep dark woods to face the CRYSTAL LAKE SLASHERS. Both teams are 1-3 and coming off losses, so a win here would go a long way in getting one of their seasons back on track. After his trade with Matt, Rick no longer has to struggle with the decision of who to start at QB… this is clearly Lamar’s team now. That was just one of the many roster moves made by the Lone American this week… he seems committed to making any move necessary to turn things around south of the border. For Crystal Lake, WR Cooper Kupp is now practicing with his team so he must be close to coming off of Glen’s IR. It’s still unclear if he’ll be ready in time for this showdown, but even without him the The Slashers are projected to score well and beat up on some weak defences. This could be an explosive week for them at home on the lake.

And finally… first place is on the line when PURDY GOOD hosts ERIC’s E-ALLS in what should be a classic. Despite being just the 8th highest in total scored points, Shawn is at the very top of the standings still perfect at 4-0. Sure he’s been talking a lot of shit, but some would say he’s been really fortunate to catch guys on bad weeks facing tough matchups. Don’t be surprised if you see his house of cards come crashing down soon. It could begin this week when he’s forced to start backup QB Sam Howell who he just signed, in place of Justin Herbert who’s out on a bye. Eric will be missing Keenan Allen and is coming off an emotional loss to his brother last week, his first of the season. He’ll be looking for revenge, and I can’t think of a better way for him to get it than by handing Shawn his first loss and jumping over him in the standings and reclaiming first place.
