WEEK 6 PREVIEW

It’s a pivotal week in the ICLAFF with some teams looking to extend streaks, and others just plain desperate for a win. Here’s what’s ahead for Week 6…

Two 4-1 teams headline our matchups this week. PURDY GOOD looks to rebound from their first loss of the season against 3RD AND LONG. Ryan gutted out a come from behind win over his bro last week even even with some key players out on a a bye. They’re returning to his lineup this week, plus he might also get Austin Ekeler back against the Cowbitches Monday night… so 3&L could be putting up some big numbers this week. It’s time for Shawn to prove he can win without his best weapon Justin Jefferson, but not only will he be without his franchise receiver - he’s also likely lost his top running back Khalil Herbert to an ankle injury. Receiver Tee Higgins and QB Justin Herbert are banged up too, but it appears they’ll be good enough to go this week. It’s a really unfortunate time for Shawn to be dealing with injuries, after a tough matchup against a top team this week, he has back to back rivalry matches coming up. This will be a defining few weeks for PG, and it all starts right here with this battle against the Brooklin Beer Bottles.

Two hot teams will meet head to head when MARC’S FUNKY BUNCH squares off with HOOKED ON A THIELEN. Both teams are 3-2, so the winner will be moving up closer to the top of the standings. The ESPN projections have Don as the early favourite, and based on the numbers you can see why. He currently has the most points in the league, and in the last two weeks he’s outscored his opponents 311-181. Based on this week’s matchups however, Marc has to like what he sees. Trevor and Travis get the Colts, Dallas Goedert faces the Jets, and James Cook draws the Giants. Don will be as be as happy as a pig in shit if J’Maar Chase can repeat what he did last week. Receivers Stefon Diggs and Kyren Williams both have favourable matchups for Don this week against weak defences… or he could just as easily go with Garrett Wilson or Michael Thomas at WR, there are so many reliable targets in his lineup. Look for this game to be high scoring, and both teams have a key player going in the Sunday night game so this shootout could be decided in prime time.

Looking to snap a two game losing streak, STRAIGHT OUTTA COUGHLIN goes up against a very confident ERIC’S E-ALLS. Although separated by 2 full games in the standings, this one has the potential to be close. Matt is one of only four teams to score over 600 total points, but he still has a losing record. He’ll be able to prove he belongs with the best if he can pull of this upset against the top team in the league. SO-CO will have to try to do it without RB James Conner who has moved onto the IR… but Matt is hopeful RB Saquon Barkley will be coming off the shelf to fill his spot. First place Eric will be without Najee Harris on bye this week, but that should matter very little to this powerhouse team who can hurt you in so many different ways. He will look to get early scoring this week from Russell Wilson and Isiha Pacheco tonight, and hope to close it out with Tony Pollard and Keenan Allen on Monday. In between there’s some guy named George Kittle to deal with on Sunday afternoon too. This team is deep - it’s not a fluke that they’re currently best in the ICLAFF.

After stealing one away from the Slashers last week, the STAND ALONE AMERICAN moves on to challenge the very explosive OTTAWA ROSS RIDERS. Rick’s QB LeMar Jackson is in London and projected to put up 20+ against the Titans, and he’s hoping to get repeat performances from newly acquired Samuel and Hall to go along with it - plus his usual good game from McCaffrey. He’ll need every point he can get to hang with this week’s opponent… Ross has been putting up gigantic numbers in his 3 game winning streak and is second in league scoring, just a single point behind his Uncle Don. This match in the nation’s capital should be a beauty… it’s Rick vs Ross, with a special halftime performance by rapper Rick Ross… “Everyday I’m Hustlin’!”

WK06-Slashers_Raiders.gif

It should be a pretty epic showdown when the CRYSTAL LAKE SLASHERS travel up to face the DARTH RAIDERS. Howie is still pissed off he let a good performance by his D-Raiders go to waste last week when he put up 124 points but lost to Ross. This week he will be without his 3 Green Bay players - Aaron Jones, Romeo Doubs, and Jayden Reed - so he’ll have to get creative with his lineup. The Slashers have lost 3 in a row, but also had a fairly respectable Week 5 in a losing effort. They could easily start to trend upwards… with Cooper Kupp back they are a deeper and more dynamic lineup, all they need is a win to get them headed back in the right direction. Giants TE Darren Waller continues to drive Glen crazy however - every time he’s in the lineup he fails to produce, but last week on his bench he had 8 catches for 83 yards. It would be nice for the Slashers to see him finally get into the end zone. Last season when Vader battled Jason in Crystal Lake, it was the D-Raiders who came out with the 116-96 win… we’ll see if the goalie mask killer can get his revenge this week on the Death Star.

WK06-Worshipers_Shwa.gif

And back in The Shwa… it’s the Toilet Bowl Rematch between the LAS VEGAS SUN WORSHIPERS and J-OSHAWA ALLEN. Both teams are really struggling, so things haven’t changed all that much since they met last winter to decide The Finkle. Mike has lost 3 matches in a row, and Rich has just 1 win on the season - together they have just 3 wins in their 10 combined matches so far. This match will likely come down to the prime time games where Josh Allen could easily score 30+ points for Mike against the Giants in the Sunday nighter, and Rich’s fate will likely be decided by his 3 Dallas players who face the Chargers on Monday Night Football. This is a pivotal, must win game for both sides… if they want to avoid meeting up once again in the actual Toilet Bowl, they’ll need to stop Finkle-ing around and start winning some matches!
